Shazam! director David F. Sandberg recently gave fans a tour of his shelves of awesome movie memorabilia through social media, which includes some awesome fan art and action figures of Zachary Levi’s titular DC hero.
The Shazam! trailer was praised by DC fans when it premiered at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. The playful tone and colorful lens through which Sandberg is showing the DC universe seem to have fans pumped for the DC origin film’s release next April. Occasionally, when someone helms a comic book movie and they’re not really passionate about the material, it’s pretty easy for fans to tell. Sandberg’s recent Instagram tour of his movie memorabilia is sure to give fans some hope that he knows what he’s doing if they didn’t already.
Sandberg has been known for his humorous tone on his social media account, which may surprise some fans given his notoriety for directing films such as Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, both of which are mentioned in the video below. The Shazam! director recently posted another fun video on his Instagram and this time it features plenty of awesome merchandise featuring the DC character.

Sandberg’s filmography may not seemingly make him the best candidate for such a colorful, humorous movie like Shazam!, but his presence on social media suggests otherwise. It may be a while before fans get some more footage from Shazam! since DC will soon be heavily focusing on advertising Aquaman, which hits theaters this December. Hopefully, fans will get a trailer for the film attached to Aquaman but DC hasn’t announced anything just yet.

Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand and Mark Strong as Doctor Sivana. Here’s the official synopsis:
“We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).”
Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
