New ‘Shazam!’ International Trailer Says The Magic Word

Shazam Zachary Levi

Zachary Levi’s titular hero Shazam! is here to deliver some laughs after the holidays in a new international trailer.

DC is closing out 2018 on a high note. Aquaman has just surpassed $500 million at the worldwide box office and its U.S. box office run is just getting started. Thankfully, fans excited to see more DC adventures don’t have to wait too long. This April, another solo superhero adventure is coming from DC and Warner Bros. titled Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as the DC hero formerly known as Captain Marvel.

A new trailer for Shazam! is set to debut in early 2019 but a new international trailer is here to whet fans’ appetite until then. The trailer may not be filled with new footage but it does reflect how different a Hollywood movie can be advertised overseas at times, even when much of the same footage is being utilized. Check out the new trailer below via We Got This Covered.

Shazam! may not be the only DC film hitting theaters next year but it is the only one featuring a superhero as the lead character. In October, the villain-centric film Joker debuts in theaters with Joaquin Phoenix starring as the iconic Batman villain. Wonder Woman 1984 was originally set to open the following month but has since been pushed to June 2020.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Shazam! as soon as more information becomes available. Which upcoming DCEU film are you most excited to see? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Honsou.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
