‘Shazam!’ Star Rachel Zegler Demands Fair Pay For ‘Snow White’ During SAG-AFTRA Strike

Boss makes a dollar, you make a dime!

Snow White Disney

Snow White is yet another live-action Disney remake making its way down the pipeline. While on the picket line for the SAG-AFTRA strike, Shazam! Fury of the Gods alum Rachel Zegler, who plays the titular Disney Princess, spoke out in favor of streaming payments for actors.

Much like her prior work with Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Snow White isn’t receiving the most praise prior to its release, leading many to speculate that the film will be released directly onto Disney Plus. When speaking of the current state of streaming during the SAG-AFTRA strike, Rachel Zegler took aim at Disney, saying that she deserves to get paid for every second it’s streamed online.

“If I’m gonna stand there 18 hours a day in the dress of an iconic Disney princess,” Zegler began when speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the picket lines “I deserve to be paid for every hour that it’s streamed online.”

Rachel Zegler’s demands are far from unreasonable. In the days before Disney entered the streaming world with Disney Plus, residuals were the standard with Cable TV to ensure, even if films like Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Snow White didn’t perform well theatrically, the parent company wouldn’t be the only one to profit from subsequent watches. Though given both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA are in it for the long haul, it seems as though the companies don’t see it as reasonable.

The talent behind the Shazam! sequel

David F. Sandberg directed Shazam! Fury of the Gods from a script written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The film stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Millans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren.

The official Shazam! Fury of the Gods synopsis reads as follows: “Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with having adult Super Hero alter-egos. But when the Daughters of Atlas, a vengeful trio of ancient gods, arrive on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Billy—aka Shazam—and his family are thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of their world.”
