Marry Me helmer Kat Coiro is set to direct and executive produce the upcoming Disney Plus series She-Hulk.
Deadline reports that Kat Coiro is headed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she has boarded the She-Hulk series. Coiro is directing the She-Hulk pilot and additional episodes of the series as well as executive producing the project. Marvel Studios has yet to find an actress to play the titular heroine but Avengers: Endgame star Mark Ruffalo has teased that he could reprise his role as Bruce Banner for the series.
Back in November 2019, Marvel Studios hired Rick and Morty scribe Jessica Gao to develop She-Hulk and serve as lead writer on the Disney Plus series. The project was announced last year during Disney’s D23 Expo.
In the comics, She-Hulk is the alter-ego of Jennifer Walters, a private attorney and the cousin of Bruce Banner. After being shot, Jennifer Walters receives a blood transfusion from Bruce that transforms her into the gamma-powered She-Hulk. However, unlike most incarnations of Bruce Banner’s Hulk, Jennifer Walters retains her sharp wit and emotional control in her She-Hulk form, which later becomes permanent.
Marvel Studios’ upcoming slate of films includes Black Widow, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder. In addition to the aforementioned feature films, Marvel Studios is developing several shows for Disney Plus, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
She-Hulk is currently slated for a 2022 release on Disney Plus. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood and subscribe to our YouTube channel for the latest news regarding all of Marvel Studios’ upcoming projects!
