Simu Liu speaks the truth!

Is Avengers: Doomsday the thing that the superhero genre has been missing? Simu Liu teases the love being put into the MCU’s upcoming crossover project.

With Avengers: Doomsday growing closer by the day, more and more members of the film’s cast have begun to give their thoughts on the movie. For as much as fans have bemoaned many of the creative decisions being made for the project, it truly does seem that every star is proud of the work being done on what may be the MCU’s most ambitious project yet.

One of these (very vocal) stars has been Simu Liu. The Shang-Chi star has been very open about how excited he is to finally make his return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday. Liu recently sat down with Screen Rant to talk about the project. And when asked to describe it in just three words, he chose to describe it as a dream come true.

“Yeah, three: dream come true.” Simu Liu remarks “I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them.”

Simu Liu Praises Avengers: Doomsday

However, it seems as though Avengers: Doomsday isn’t just a triumph in Simu Liu’s professional career. It seems to be a triumph for the entire superhero genre. Continuing on, the actor gushed about how much care has been put into the film, as well as the special plays the genre holds inside of his heart.

“It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”

“[Avengers: Doomsday] is for all the misfits and the weirdos and the underdogs that grew up reading comic books and feeling like there was hope for them somehow – that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in – I think there’s just always a special place in my heart for that entire genre.”

With the MCU now being very much the top dog in Hollywood, it’ll be interesting to see how the underdog story being told in Avengers: Doomsday translates to the big screen. It’ll certainly be interesting to see the new crop of heroes, such as Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel, interact with the faces that defined the superhero genre across the decades.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
