Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu promised the first trailer for the Marvel Studios film will be worth the wait.

Since the Super Bowl is usually the perfect time for companies like Disney to unveil a look at upcoming movies, many Marvel fans were expecting to see teasers for upcoming movies like Eternals and Shang-Chi, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. It wasn’t all bad though, since the studio did reveal a brand new trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which teased the reluctant partnership between Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.

But it seems like the first look at Shang-Chi might be on the way sooner rather than later as the movie’s lead, Simu Liu, took to Twitter to tell fans the trailer will be “so good” when it eventually arrives. Not only will the film introduce Shang-Chi himself to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Marvel Studios previously confirmed the appearance of characters like The Mandarin and Razor Fist. Take a look at Simu Liu teasing the trailer below.

Introduced in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, Shang-Chi is a skilled martial artist who was raised in an isolated compound located in China and trained by his father Fu Manchu, a Chinese crimelord and immortal sorcerer who repeatedly attempted to conquer the world. When Shang-Chi was finally allowed to venture into the outside world to do his father’s bidding, he learned about his father’s evil ways and faked his own death before embarking on a mission to take down Fu Manchu’s criminal empire.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Ronny Chieng. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2021.
