Sony reveals the story trailer for The Last of Us Part II arrives showing the violent world that players will have to fight through as Ellie.

A new story trailer for Sony’s The Last of Us Part II teases the violent world that Ellie will travel through in the upcoming sequel. There’s been some controversy surrounding the game recently after a leak reportedly revealed much of the story and the levels involved, although Sony and Naughty Dog confirmed they’d found those responsible. The new footage briefly teases the violent event that catapults Ellie into her brutal journey.

Sony’s The Last of Us Part II trailer shows Joel trying to warn Ellie from giving into her desire for revenge, although given how many thugs we see her brutally murder it looks like she’s hellbent on getting back at those responsible. We see her shooting, stabbing and generally killing other survivors in a number of bloody ways. It’s clear that the sequel will heavily focus on the human villains in the world rather than the infected ones. Take a look at Sony’s story trailer for The Last of Us Part II below.

The first The Last of Us video game centers on the relationship between a smuggler named Joel and 14-year-old Ellie, the latter of whom may be the key to curing the deadly pandemic that resulted in the post-apocalypse world of the game. Hired to smuggle Ellie out of a quarantine zone, Joel finds himself relying on the teenage girl just as much as she relies on him as they fight to survive on their journey across the United States.

The HBO is currently developing a television adaptation that will cover the events of the first game, with the upcoming sequel titled potentially serving as the basis for additional content. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann will pen and executive the series. The HBO adaptation will be a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and in association with PlayStation Productions. Carolyn Strauss and Naughty Dog president Evan Wells also serve as executive producers.
