Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme Is Coming To Disney World

Doctor Strange Disney World

It looks like Disney World will become just a little more magical this Fall. The Walt Disney park is looking for male actors to roam around dressed as Doctor Strange, the “Sorcerer Supreme” of Marvel comics.  The news comes from a tweet by Stitch Kingdom, who posted an image of a Disney World casting sheet calling for actors to portray Doctor Strange.

The sheet mentions that Disney World is looking for a male actor between 5’11” and 6’2″ with an athletic build for a “limited engagement appearance” at the Walt Disney World Resort. This means that Doctor Strange likely won’t be staying in Disney World with the rest of the regulars, and will only be there for a guest appearance.

That makes sense, Marvel doesn’t completely own the rights to their character’s theme park rights. Due to a confusing and long-standing contract, Universal Studios does. However, Marvel is able to bring their characters to Disney parks for a limited time for promotional purposes.

Since the Doctor Strange movie is coming out in just a couple of months, now is a good time to start promoting the hell out of him at Disney World. The casting sheet doesn’t specify which park the Doctor Strange actor will be appearing in, but since he’ll be promoting the movie, he’ll probably be in Hollywood Studios

Putting Doctor Strange in one of the happiest places on earth is a pretty good idea on Marvel’s part. I imagine they are doing it for the same reason they brought in Gamora and Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy for a limited appearance, to get more people familiar with Doctor Strange. The character isn’t as well known as Captain America or Iron Man, and even thought most people were sold after the Comic-Con trailer, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Check out the casting sheet below. Do you live close to Disney World? If so, and if you meet the criteria, why not go down there and audition for the role of “Sorcerer Supreme”?

Doctor Strange comes out in theaters November 4, 2016.
