Batgirl may live on through Marvel! A new rumor suggests the directors of the scrapped film are being eyed to helm Spider-Man 4.
Marvel is trying to get Spider-Man 4 in gear as fast as possible, with current reports suggesting filming will start later this fall. Despite this, the studio still doesn’t have a director. While the official search continues on, a new rumor from Hollywood insider DanielRPK suggests Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are in the mix to direct the sequel.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are far from freshman directors in the superhero genre. Aside from Batgirl, the duo had previously worked on Ms. Marvel, meaning there’s already a connection to Marvel Studios. However, the rumor also suggests they’re not the only directors considered for Spider-Man 4, with the studio also considering indie directors similar to how they found Jon Watts.
Batgirl Directors Address Helming Spider-Man 4
While this is a rather new rumor, the Batgirl duo have been fan-picked to tackle Spider-Man 4 for quite some time. In fact, the two were recently asked about the possibility during a recent press event for Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Bilall Fallah only added fuel to the fire, however, with his curt response of “I can’t talk about that.”
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would certainly be an interesting choice for Spider-Man 4. Their work on Ms. Marvel has been highly praised by fans and critics. The folks at Marvel would also gain a lot of good press if they signed on the Batgirl directors to helm the project when Warner Bros. scrapped their film, especially if the project ends up as good as rumors suggest it can be!
