‘Spider-Man 4’: Sam Raimi Thinks About Unmade Sequel All The Time

Life is always full of regrets and for Sam Raimi, a big one is his unmade fourth Spider-Man film.

During a recent interview with Yahoo!, Sam Raimi talked a bit about his unmade fourth Spider-Man film. As you may remember, Sam Raimi directed the first three Spider-Man films with the first two often considered to be among the best superhero films ever made and the founders of the current superhero craze. Sadly Sam Raimi’s fourth film never happened due to creative differences with Sony. And apparently, this remains one of his biggest regrets.

During the interview, he stated that is almost impossible not to think about his unmade Spider-Man film with a new one coming out every year. He then stated that he is trying to focus on the future and not the past:

I think about it all the time. It’s hard not to, because each summer another Spider-Man film comes out! So when you have an unborn one, you can’t help but think what might have been. But I try to focus on what will be, and not look into the past.

From the look of things, Sam Raimi really wished he could have made things work with Sony for Spider-Man 4.

We may never know how Sam Raimi’s fourth film may have turned out but we do know that it was set to feature a team-up between the Vulture and Mysterio. Ultimately we would see these two villains in the Marve Studios’ Spider-Man films but to think we could have had these two years ago. It’s a shame how these things sometimes work out.

Here is the plot synopsis for the franchise’s latest film, Spider-Man: Far From Home:

Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, Numan Acar, J.B. Smoove, Oli Hill, Remy Hii, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is now playing in theaters!
