Spider-Man 4 is getting a brand new name! The first details have been released about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside a new release date.
With the news that Spider-Man 4 is going to start production sometime in the next month or so, fans have been eager to get any news about the upcoming sequel. Fans didn’t expect much to come out of CinemaCon, but it has been the home to Spider-Man related news before. Which is why fans were both over and underwhelmed when the only piece of news was a name change, with the project now titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Spider-Man 4 has also landed a new release date. Originally the project was set to release on July 24th, 2026. Along with the new name of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the film has been delayed one week to July 31st. While not an insanely long delay (like it’s contemporary Beyond The Spider-Verse), it’s enough that some Spider-Man fans may get antsy as they approach the end of the month next summer.
Why Did Spider-Man 4 Get Renamed?
Spider-Man 4 is far from the only Spider-Man film to get a new name once production officially started. In fact, all of them have. However, Spider-Man: Brand New Day represents a very important turning point for the franchise. Namely, that it drops the “Home” naming scheme that the prior MCU trilogy is known for, suggesting that the sequel will be a much cleaner break than some fans expected.
Though more importantly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is very similar to one of the most infamous Spider-Man comics in history: One More Day. Even before Spider-Man 4 was announced, fans speculated that the MCU would be adapting the controversial story as a way of undoing the events of No Way Home. While this isn’t confirmation of the adaptation, it’s likely the most fans will get for some time.
