Is Daniel Dae Kim the perfect Mister Negative? The actor reacts to the viral fancast of him as the villain for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially starting production, the fancast mill has officially taken over the rumor mill in activity. Reports suggest that the film will be choked fill of iconic villains. Out of all the ones speculated to appear, perhaps none have been more popular than Martin Li, aka the villainous Mister Negative.
Dozens of actors, from Donnie Yen to Goong Yo, have been floated to potentially play Mister Negative in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, by far the most beloved fancast for the character is Daniel Dae Kim, best known for his roles in projects like Hawaii Five-0 and Saints Row. And while the actor wouldn’t say much, it seems that he at least finds the prospect interesting!
“I heard something about that over the past six or seven months, and I saw that,” Kim told Screen Rant in a recent interview. “I’ve seen that people want other Asian actors to play him as well, so I’m happy to be included in that conversation, but I haven’t heard anything.”
“It’s interesting. I’m always up for an interesting role and an interesting project.”
Is Mister Negative In Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Despite how quickly fans have been to fancast Daniel Dae Kim in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there’s actually no official word that Mister Negative will appear in the film. Even turning to the rumor mill, scoopers such as Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus (via ComicBookMovie.com) have revealed that they don’t believe the villain will appear in the film.
Though given how popular Mister Negative has become in the fandom, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the character appear in a sequel to Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And while it’s not likely that any fancast will ever come true, knowing that Daniel Dae Kim is at least interested in the role should keep fans fed for at least some months to come.
