Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day the key to Marvel’s Mutant Saga? A rumor suggests that more than one holder of the X-Gene will appear in the upcoming film.
For months, the rumor mill has been screaming from the rooftops that Jean Grey will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, heralding in the start of the Mutant Saga. We’re still not convinced, with the trailer teasing a much darker psychic force appearing in the film. Even still, the inclusion of William Metzger does all but confirm that mutants will be key to the film’s story.
And “Mutants” may not just refer to the broader category. A rumor from TheGeekyCast teases that “more than one” mutant will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. One of these mutants is likely Jean Grey, at least within the context of the rumor, but there haven’t been any other reports about what characters could appear alongside her.
The Mutants Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
When one thinks of Jean Grey, Cyclops often isn’t far behind. It’s also true that a VERY old rumor teased a “Harris Dickinson-type” was being eyed for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though as of this late date, fans still have no clue what character they were trying to cast for. Could it be that Scott Summers might be the second mutant in the MCU?
Then again, the trailer did tease that Peter Parker would be going through some mutations of his own in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Could it be that the rumor is simply being cheeky, stating that there was more than one mutant while meaning Jean Grey and Spider-Man? Possibly. But given how prevalent mutants are in the Marvel universe, it’s impossible to nail down any other suspects.
