Marvel might have some big plans for Scorpion! The latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumor reveals new details about Michael Mando’s role in the film.
One of the most exciting announcements to come out of Spider-Man: Brand New Day was the reveal that, after almost a decade, Michael Mando would finally be making his return as Scorpion on the silver screen. It’s a fulfillment of one of Marvel’s longest unkept promises, and have many fans excited wondering what his role could be.
However, some fans wonder if that role will be anything substantial at all. Spider-Man: Brand New Day already has a bunch of heavy hitters, including Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. This not to mention the rumor mill, which suggests at least four more villains could be joining the project’s cast. This has left many to believe that Michael Mando’s Scorpion will return as merely a cameo under the obligation of the audience.
Scorpion’s Role In Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Luckily, it seems that Scorpion may have a bigger role than most villains in the film. Insider DanielRPK reports that Michael Mando will play a substantial part in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but won’t be the main villain. Following up this rumor, scooper MyTimeToShineHello added that the project may set up the character to have a large role in the inevitable Spider-Man 5.
This all tracks with what Michael Mando has been posting on his own social media accounts, teasing that Scorpion may don the Venom symbiote at some point in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s possible that the villain maintains his Scorpion moniker throughout the film, with the ending teaser setting him up for a larger role as Venom in the sequel.
