The first is that there have been absolutely no details about who will play the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and what they’ll be like. The second is that the Punisher has almost never had a sidekick in the comics, making it nearly impossible to speculate on.

The first new details for this rumor were actually revealed by John Rocha on The Hot Mic. While the scooper didn’t confirm anything major about the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Rocha did reveal that the Punisher’s sidekick will be played by a black woman. To many, this narrowed down the possibilities of who they could actually be.
This rumor has led many to assume that the Punisher’s sidekick is actually Misty Knight, a fan-favorite hero from the Netflix shows. However, given there has been no news about Simone Missick returning to the role, it’s more likely than not that the character is an original creation for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and will likely be introduced in the Punisher’s Disney Plus special.
