Is Spider-Man: Brand New Day bringing Hulk in a brand new direction? The latest rumor reveals new details about Mark Ruffalo’s reported return to the MCU.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumor mill has been absolutely churning out information now that the film is gearing up for production. Perhaps the most tantalizing corner of the film that most of these reports touched on is what new villains will be brought into the MCU in the upcoming film. There’s been reports ranging from Mephisto, to the return of Scorpion, and even some entirely original Japanese-inspired villains.
However, villains aren’t the only superpowered characters people should be watching out for. The Spider-Man franchise is known for its crossovers with other MCU heroes, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day seems to be no exception. A rumor from the other day seems to confirm that Mark Ruffalo will appear in the film as Hulk, with Nexus Point News stating that the character will have a “substantial” role in the upcoming film.
Is Hulk In Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Many assumed that this rumor meant Mark Ruffalo would be taking on a role akin to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange or Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man in the previous Spider-Man films, with Professor Hulk serving as a mentor for Peter. However, that may not be entirely accurate. According to a separate rumor by Josh at Den of Nerds, Hulk is set to be the villain of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with the Nerdrotic account teasing the film will mark the return of Savage Hulk in the MCU.
Now, these supporting reports don’t make the rumor true. Hulk being the true villain goes against everything fans currently know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, given the MCU’s current push for the Hulks to take a bigger presence in the franchise, it wouldn’t be entirely shocking to see Mark Ruffalo take up a truly antagonistic role in an upcoming film. Especially if it means the long-awaited return of Savage Hulk!
