The Punisher isn’t pulling punches in Spider-Man: Brand New Day! A rumor suggests that the vigilante will be the center of the film’s opening fight scene.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day had one of the most publicized first few weeks of filming in the history of superhero movies. Despite this, fans have been left completely in the dark about exactly WHAT was being filmed. While the presence of tanks suggested an action scene of some kind, potentially involving Jon Bernthal’s version of The Punisher, there was nothing concretely confirmed.

It seems like, unlike most speculation on the internet, fans may have been right on the money. A rumor from MyTimeToShineHello reveals new details about the opening action sequence of the film involving a conflict between Spider-Man and The Punisher. While it wasn’t confirmed this was the exact sequence being filmed in Glasgow, signs certainly point to it being related to the event.

“The scene begins with a group of criminals (initially believed to be the Inner Demons) attempting to break Mac Gargan/Scorpion (Michael Mando) out of prison while he’s being transported to another location,” ComicBookMovie.com writes on the rumor. “The Punisher and his mysterious female partner get wind of this and try to eliminate the villains, while Spider-Man does his best to prevent the carnage, stop the prison break, and keep Castle from notching up any kills.”

The Punisher Takes On Spider-Man

This rumor lines up with previous reports about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which suggests that The Punisher and Spider-Man will have a bit of an antagonistic relationship. It’s not clear how big of a role Jon Bernthal will have in the film outside of this opening sequence, though it’s likely that he’ll have at least a decently sized role.

The rumor also backs up reports that The Punisher will have a sidekick in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While there hasn’t been any reliable reports on who that character might be, speculation suggests that this may be the character Sadie Sink is playing in the MCU. However, there are also other reports that she may be playing another major hero.
