Fans may finally know who Liza Colón-Zayas is playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day! A set video alongside a recent rumor seems to reveal what role she’ll play in the MCU.
Despite being one of the earliest new cast members brought onto Spider-Man: Brand New Day, fans still know basically nothing about the role Liza Colón-Zayas will play in the film. Though that certainly hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. In fact, most online communities have settled on the idea that the actress will actually be playing Miles Morales’ mom Rio Morales in the MCU.
However, it seems the internet may once more have egg on their face. A fresh rumor from MyTimeToShineHello reveals that Liza Colón-Zayas will likely be playing Jean DeWolff in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While exact details on her comic book past won’t be spoiled here, her relationship to the villain of Sin-Eater suggests that this film may be one of the darkest yet in the MCU.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Set Video Seemingly Confirms Recent Rumor
Unlike most things to come out of the rumor mill, this report actually got some major supporting evidence around the time of its posting. A set video from Spider-Man: Brand New Day shows Tom Holland’s hero talking to a police officer who looks suspiciously like Liza Colón-Zayas, suggesting she may, in fact, be playing the MCU’s Jean DeWolff.

If Liza Colón-Zayas does end up playing Jean DeWolff in the MCU, that likely explains why fans still don’t know who the main villain will be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. A key part of her most famous storyline involves the mystery of who the villain Sin-Eater is, meaning there likely won’t be an official announcement of who’s taking on the role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31st, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
