Spider-Man director Jon Watts has signed on to direct the next Fantastic Four movie for Marvel Studios.
Kevin Feige has officially confirmed that the Fantastic Four are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Spider-Man director Jon Watts directing the team’s next cinematic outing. Feige broke the news during the Marvel Studios segment of the Disney 2020 Investor Day presentation.
Jon Watts is best known for his work on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and its follow-up Far From Home. He’s currently working on the yet-to-be titled third Spider-Man movie and is expected to move on to Fantastic Four after completing the project, which is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.

During Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kevin Feige confirmed a Fantastic Four project is being developed for the MCU. However, the Fantastic Four project was not included in the Phase 4 slate announcement, leaving its place in the MCU a mystery at the time.
