Breaking Down The Roles Of The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Supporting Cast

While a good chunk of the cast’s roles in the currently in production Spider-Man: Homecoming are being kept under wraps, we finally received some details about the roles of the film’s main supporting cast from Entertainment Weekly last night. We decided to take these names and do some character breakdowns for you guys based on the footage that was screened during the Marvel Studios panel this past weekend at San Diego Comic-Con.

  • Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori)

In the comics, Thompson is a star high school football player who bullies Peter Parker. Oddly enough though, he greatly admires Spider-Man, which is an irony in which the superhero takes some gratification from. He was previously portrayed by Joe Manganiello in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and Jchris Zylka in The Amazing Spider-Man.

We didn’t get to see too much of Revolori’s character in the footage, so it’s hard to say much about this incarnation of the character. Also, this may seemingly confirm that the in-development Venom film will likely focus on Eddie Brock with Revolori playing a young Flash Thompson.

  • Michelle (Zendaya)

While we still don’t have a last name for the character, it’s widely believed that this will be an incarnation of Michelle Gonzales. She is a more recent character when it comes to the comics and was Peter Parker’s roommate at one point. However, her and Parker have a one night stand which ends up complicating their relationship.

Some speculate that she could be a romantic interest for Peter Parker in the film. She seems to be a bit of an outsider from the looks of things and heavily reminded us of the character Lindsay Weir from Freaks And Geeks.

  • Liz Allan (Laura Harrier)

In the comics, Liz Allan is another potential love interest for Peter Parker but nothing comes out of this one due to her being Flash Thompson’s girlfriend in high school. There currently has been nothing that indicated whether or not she will be Thompson’s girlfriend in this incarnation as well.

However, the footage screened did seemingly hint at her being a romantic interest for Peter Parker and featured a gym scene featuring Allan and a group of friends playing a a game of Marry, Boff, Kill with the members of The Avengers.

  • Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon)

Ned Leeds was a bit of a rival for Peter Parker in the comics and eventually goes on to become The Hobgoblin. Well, it doesn’t seem they’re going that route when it comes to Spider-Man: Homecoming as the footage screened makes it seem that character will only be Leeds in name alone. The brief bits of footage shown seemed to hint at Leeds being Peter Parker’s best friend in the film and he might very well be the character rumored to be based off Ganke from the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.
