Hailee Steinfeld has some pipes! An unreleased song from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has managed to leak online after half a decade.
There was a lot that was revolutionary about Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. However, perhaps the most tangible part of the movie that has stuck around in the day-to-day is the film’s soundtrack. Songs like Sunflower, What’s Up Danger and Familia became hits even outside of the movie’s context, making it one of the most successful film albums of all time.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse also released a Christmas album alongside its official soundtrack. This featured Spider-Man themed Christmas songs from many of the film’s cast members, such as Shameik Moore, Chris Pine, and Jake Johnson. However, a notable exemption from this list is Hailee Steinfeld. This is odd since, even at the time of the film’s production, Steinfeld was a charting singer.
Hailee Steinfeld’s Unreleased Song
It seems the reason Hailee Steinfeld was left off the Christmas album was because she had spent her time recording a song for the official Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse soundtrack. Not that fans knew, as the song was ultimately cut from the film’s release. However, now seven years later, the unreleased song has finally managed to leak onto the net:
The song, titled Put It In Words, seems to be a song from the perspective of Gwen Stacy, who wants another party (likely Miles or her father) to be open about their feelings due to their mixed signals, even if the truth hurts them. Given no scene like this happens in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (or at least for long enough to warrant an entirely song), it makes sense that the song went unreleased.
Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse is set to release on June 4, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Spider-Verse!
