Big changes are coming to Spider-Man Noir! A rumored synopsis for the series reveals a new identity for Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man along with his biggest villains.
Fans have been patiently waiting for any news about Spider-Man Noir, the newest series coming out of Sony’s Spider-Verse. The project stars the ever-inconsistent Nicolas Cage, though that’s close to all that’s known about the show. However, a synopsis from Hollywood insider DanielRPK reveals the villains Cage will face in the project, as well as a massive change to his alias.
“We follow Ben Reilly, a PI, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”
Yes, fans read that right, Nicolas Cage won’t be playing Peter Parker in Spider-Man Noir. Rather, he’ll be a variation of Ben Reilly. While this may shock some, this is perfectly in line with how Marvel has treated Peter Parker throughout the years, having very strict guidelines preventing the character from doing anything immoral without the symbiote. Luckily, this means that this series will likely have a hard R rating!
The Villains Of Spider-Man Noir
The other name fans may have caught alongside Nicolas Cage’s new identity in Spider-Man Noir is Yuri Watanabe. The character was popularized through her role as the police captain turned vigilante in Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation. It seems she’ll be taking on a similar role in this series, albeit with a slightly harder bent against Spider-Man.
Silvermane is a name fans will be less familiar with. The villain is an obscure Maggia member who, over the years, has turned their body completely cybernetic. It’s unclear if Nicolas Cage will be facing a full-on cyborg in Spider-Man Noir, or if the series will attempt to have a more grounded take on the character.
