Is the MCU getting its own take on Venom? The latest Spider-Man rumor suggests the symbiote may have a home in the character’s upcoming trilogy.
The rumor mill has been absolutely awash with reports about how Marvel plans to integrate Venom into the MCU. Before it was announced that the first film in the new trilogy would be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the most popular rumor on the block suggested that the upcoming film would revolve around the King in Black storyline and feature Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock.
Yet in recent weeks, the main focus of almost any rumor for Spider-Man: Brand New Day revolves around who will play the film’s villain. This has left speculation about Venom in the MCU out to pasture, with most settling on the symbiote appearing for a small cameo before becoming an integral part in the next installments of the trilogy.
Venom’s Role In The MCU
Though it seems some fuel is being added back to the speculative fire with the most recent rumor from DanielRPK. The insider suggests that Marvel does want their own take on the symbiote in the MCU, and that it most likely doesn’t involve Tom Hardy making his return as Eddie Brock. If true, it’s likely that Spider-Man: Brand New Day may hold some hints about the character’s future.
“I hear Marvel wants their own take on the Symbiote, whatever that means,” DanielRPK posted to social media “Maybe meaning no Tom Hardy.”
The most likely candidate to who takes on Venom in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, if this rumor is true, is Mac Gargan. The Scorpion has been the host of the symbiote before. And, given how much the MCU has hyped up the character’s appearance, it wouldn’t be shocking if he too played a major role in the upcoming trilogy.
