During a press visit to the set of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Tom Holland revealed the film will have a surprising scene on par with the famous Homecoming sequence with Michael Keaton’s Vulture.
Spider-Man: Homecoming stunned audiences with the surprise reveal that Michael Keaton’s Vulture was the father of Laura Harrier’s Liz when Tom Holland’s Peter Parker arrived to take her to the school dance. The revelation was followed by a tense conversation between Michael Keaton’s Vulture and the wall-crawler on the drive to the dance, in which the villain gradually deduced Peter Parker’s secret identity and threatened him after Liz had stepped outside of the vehicle. When asked if Spider-Man: Far From Home might have an equally suspenseful scene that does not involve spectacle, Tom Holland revealed the Homecoming sequel will have an equally similar sequence that director Jon Watts predicted will be hated by audiences:
“There’s a scene in this film where audiences will feel like they were punched in the face. Even filming it, I remember walking out and then watching it again on the monitors and asking Jon [Watts], ‘Are you sure that’s okay?’ And he’s like, ‘No, it’s not. People are going to hate this scene.’ But it really… God, it’s pretty crazy. And it’s very similar in the way that it’s very tense, and it sort of rips the rug from underneath your feet. It’s pretty awesome.”
