Is Peter B. Parker coming to live-action? Jake Johnson speaks on the possibility of reprising his iconic Spider-Verse role in a non-animated project.
Fans recently got their taste of the live-action Spider-Verse with the first trailer for Spider-Noir, which sees Nicolas Cage reprise his iconic role from the animated Spider-Verse films. This has left one question on the minds of many online – who could be the next Spider-person to make the jump from animation to the real world?
The first name to come to anyone’s mind was Jake Johnson, who plays Peter B. Parker in the Spider-Verse franchise. Fans have been longing for an older, more mature, and, frankly, sadder take on the wallcrawler. There’s a reason Ultimate Spider-Man sold so well. So if Spider-Noir does well, Johnson seems like the next actor to pull into the live-action space as his hero.
Is Jake Johnson Playing Peter B. Parker In Live-Action?
Jake Johnson was actually asked about the possibility of reprising his beloved Spider-Verse role in live-action during a recent chat with Screenrant. Sadly, it seems as though the actor has no intentions on playing the character from anywhere other than VO booth, admitting that he wouldn’t want to bring his take on the character into live-action.
“I wouldn’t want to do [a live-action project as the character]…I think Nic Cage entering the [live-action] universe is great. I think Lamorne [Morris], who I’m really excited to see in that, those trailers look very cool.”
Of course, with Marvel’s Multiverse Saga already having three live-action Spider-Man, it’s not like they’d be banging down Jake Johnson’s door to get him to play Peter B. Parker in a movie or TV show. Still, it’s a shame that, even with how iconic the performances of Spider-Verse are, it’s more likely than not than fans will never see them in the flesh.
Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse is set to release on June 4, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Spider-Verse!
