Star Wars BattlefrontEA released a new Star Wars Battlefront II featurette during the Level Up! Games Presentation at Disney’s D23 biennial Expo today in Anaheim, CA.

Battlefront II star Janina Gavankar took the stage with Steve Blank of the Lucasfilm story group to offer fans an overview of the new game which follows Iden Versio (Gavankar), the commander of a group of Imperial special forces known as the Inferno Squad. The story begins with the Inferno Squad reeling in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and takes us all the way up to The First Order’s debut in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The new featurette takes us behind the story of the single player campaign which will continue to humanize the Empire in new canon. EA has also revealed Iden’s backstory as an exceptional Imperial officer who trained for a leadership role from a young age at the Imperial Academy on Coruscant and rose through the ranks of the Empire all on her own, without any special treatment from her father, Admiral Garrick Versio of the Imperial Security Bureau. While the trailers have revealed Iden was present to witness the destruction of the second Death Star over the Forest Moon, Iden was also part of the Empire’s defense during the assault on the first Death Star and part of the TIE Fighter Squadron in pursuit of Luke Skywalker as he fired the proton torpedos that destroyed the first planet killer. Iden was able to escape to a nearby moon of Yavin before eventually making her way back to Imperial forces.

The featurette also gives us a new look at Inferno Squad members Gideon Hask (Paul Blackthorne) and Del, played by T.J. Ramini (24). You can check out it out below.
