Is Daisy Ridley done with big franchises after Star Wars? The Rey actress reveals if she’d ever join the MCU or upcoming DC Universe.
For a few years, Daisy Ridley was inescapable when it came to fancasting discussions. Given her leading role in the at the time ongoing Star Wars saga, many fans defaulted to using her as a leading woman in a number of MCU and DC Universe fancasts. There were even tangible rumors that Ridley would make the leap across the Spider-Verse to star in the long-speculate Spider-Woman movie at Sony Pictures.
Yet after nearly a decade of being in the public eye, Daisy Ridley has broadly avoided blockbuster franchises following her role as Rey in Star Wars. Some fans believed that the hate she received for the role may have dissuaded her from joining the (at the time) floundering DC Universe or the MCU controlled by the very same company. However, when asked about the prospect in a recent chat with ComicBook.com, Ridley revealed she’d love to get back into the fray of sci-fi action.
“I work with this amazing second AD called Matthew Sharp,” Ridley explained, referring to the longtime MCU and DC Universe crew member. “And he texts me because he’s doing Avengers, and he goes, ‘If they call.’ So I was like, ‘If they call, absolutely.’ Then, of course, love Batman, love The Penguin. I’m a fan of so many sorts of films. Yeah, I’m open to everything.”
What Superhero Could Daisy Ridley Play?
Of course, given Daisy Ridley’s familiarity with action from her tenure with Star Wars, there’s no shortage of characters she could play in the MCU or DC Universe. Perhaps the most obvious role in the former is finally bringing the rumors of her starring as Spider-Woman to life. However, fans have no shortage of Marvel heroes for her to play, with some of the biggest including Moira McTaggert, Psylocke (Betsy Braddock), and Madame Masque.
Daisy Ridley has long been a favorite to play Wonder Woman in the DC Universe, even before the latest reboot. However, given her Star Wars roots lean more cosmic, it’s possible that she plays a more obscure character like Saturn Girl. The actress has also been floated for the role of Huntress, though the latest rumors regarding the character’s role in the new reboot suggest she may not be the best fit for what the studio is currently looking for.
