New Details On ‘Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge’ Attraction ‘Rise Of The Resistance’ Revealed

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Disney have revealed that their upcoming main attraction to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be one of their most immersive rides ever.

Per ComicBook.com, the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge ride Rise of the Resistance is meant to make park-goers feel like they’re living their own Star Wars adventure. After going into the planet of Batuu to meet a Resistance envoy led by General Leia Organa, the First Order intercepts the spaceship that riders are on and takes them inside a Star Destroyer to face Supreme Leader Kylo Ren himself. Fortunately, an alliance of Resistance ships and soldiers, including Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron, arrive to help their new allies escape form the clutches of the First Order.

Guests will get to see all sorts of iconic Star Wars creations come to life, as life-sized AT-AT walkers and TIE fighters, along a garrison of Stormtroopers, will intimidate guests as they make a daring escape to Batuu. The ride itself will culminate with a crash-landing sequence that will put Disney simulations to the test. Afterward, guests will go right back into Galaxy’s Edge theme park, free to either ride Rise of the Resistance again, to visit Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, or look at the other sights available to see at Galaxy’s Edge.

The press release for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance reads as follows:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be one of the most ambitious, advanced, and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering. The innovative new attraction will take guests aboard a full-size transport shuttle before they are captured by a Star Destroyer and wind up in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. The harrowing adventure will blur the lines between fantasy and reality on a scale never seen before in a Disney attraction.”

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to open in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World on December 5, 2019, and at Disneyland on January 17, 2020.

Directed by J. J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Keri Russell, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams. Carrie Fisher will appear as General Leia Organa through the use of previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theaters on December 20, 2019.
