Jar Jar Binks is quite possibly the single most hated character in all of Star Wars, and apparently, the disdain for the maligned comic relief character is shared by enough people at Lucasfilm that they have a statue placing the character on ice.
The Star Wars Show co-host Anthony Carboni recently took viewers into a walkthrough of Lucasfilm’s inner offices in San Francisco, in the process showing off a lot of cool memorabilia. One thing he was particularly proud of was a fanmade statue putting Jar Jar on ice (seen at about 3:12-3:25 below):
It’s not easy being Gungan, eh? This same statue got a homage in the Legends game The Force Unleashed, where the frozen alien could be found inside the residence of an Imperial captain who had a thing for collecting trophies of the aliens he’s killed. At least the poor bugger got it better in the actual Star Wars canon, where he ended up being a street performer for children.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will rise on December 15, 2017. The movie’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
