Star Wars director J.J. Abrams discussed whether he’d like to continue exploring the Skywalker family after The Rise of Skywalker.

J.J. Abrams recently discussed if the Star Wars saga can continue after The Rise of Skywalker and if he’d like to return to the franchise to direct more instalments. As many fans know, J.J. Abrams grew up loving Star Wars and is extremely grateful for getting the chance to leave his mark on the franchise. The director most recently discussed the backlash from The Last Jedi, explaining that he thought the “meta approach” is the reason it didn’t resonate with many fans.

But in an interview with The New York Times, Star Wars director J.J. Abrams was asked whether he’d like to return to helm more stories about the Skywalker family in the future, he explained that every ending is a beginning in some way. It seems like the director is open to coming back to Star Wars, but maybe not for more chapters in the Skywalker saga. Take a look at what J.J. “Can it go on? Of course it can go on. But there’s something bold about saying this is what the story should be. Any great ending is a new beginning on some level.”

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theaters on December 19, 2019.
