Lando Calrissian & ‘The Acolyte’ Star Wars Series Announced At Disney Plus

Two more shows are in the works for Disney Plus!

Lucasfilm announced two more Star Wars series for Disney Plus centered on Lando Calrissian and a show from Leslye Headland called The Acolyte taking place during the High Republic.

During Disney’s Investor Day presentation, it was revealed that Lucasfilm was working on two The Mandalorian spin-offs with Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic. However, Lucasfilm also revealed two more Star Wars series that are in the works for the streaming service. The first series will focus on Lando Calrissian and be developed by Dear White People creator Justin Simien. It’s unclear which Lando actor will appear in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off series.

We’ve also known that Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland was developing a new Star Wars series for Disney Plus that would follow original characters in an unexplored era. Kathleen Kennedy finally revealed that Headland’s series will be titled The Acolyte and take place during the end of the High Republic era that will first be explored in a series of books and comics starting in 2021.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito and Carl Weathers, with Rosario Dawson joining the series as Ahsoka Tano. The Star Wars project is being directed by series creator Jon Favreau, executive producer Dave Filoni and fellow season one directors Rick Famuyiwa and Bryce Dallas Howard. Ant-Man director Peyton Reed will also helm at least one episode as will star Carl Weathers and Sin City helmer Robert Rodriguez.
