Andor season 2 recently wrapped production. However, it seems one key Rogue One star won’t return to the Star Wars universe.
Andor has truly served as a victory lap for Rogue One, following up one of the best Star Wars films with one of the best Disney Plus shows to date. While it’s been a treat seeing more of Diego Luna in the galaxy far, far away, it seems not everyone will be returning to the series. Specifically, Ben Mendelsohn confirms he won’t be back as Orson Krennic.
“I think Krennic has a tremendous amount of things left to give to the audience,” Mendelsohn explained to Bad Taste. “What we need to understand about a character like Krennic is that, if he had had the chance, he would have tried to take over the entire game and it seems to me that this aspect has not yet been explored sufficiently.”
“As for being contacted by Lucasfilm for a new project, I can tell you that no, I have not been approached for something like this.” He continued. “And yes, it would be great to see him again somewhere, but for now everything stops here. But as far as I’m concerned, I would be very willing to explore it further and significantly in that world. I never expected to play a character like that, but then again I never expected to become an actor either. For me they are all wonderful things.”
Ben Mendelsohn already made his return to Star Wars as Krennic in The Bad Batch. However, it’s certainly disappointing that he won’t be in season 2 of Andor given his role in Rogue One. Luckily, it seems Disney Plus is the place for any Star Wars actor to come back for more, so fans may see Krennic again sooner than expected!
