Stargirl Haunting Of Hill House Henry Thomas Dr. Mid-Nite

Entertainment Weekly reports Stargirl has cast The Haunting of Hill House star Henry Thomas as DC hero Dr. Mid-Nite.

The Haunting of Hill House star Henry Thomas joins of the cast of Stargirl in the recurring guest-star role of the Golden Age hero Dr. Mid-Nite, the alter-ego of introspective surgeon Dr. Charles McNider. In the comics, Dr. McNider was tasked with saving a key witness who was set to testify against a crime boss named “Killer “Maroni before being shot in the back and left to die. While performing the life-saving operation, Charles McNider was permanently blinded by the explosion that occurred when an assassin hurled a grenade through the hospital window that killed everyone else in the room.

While recovering from his injuries, a wood owl crashed through the window of his study, prompting McNider to tear off the bandages on his eyes. McNider discovered that while he was blind in the light, he could see perfectly in the dark and later developed an assortment of tools to help him fight the criminal underworld as the costumed hero Dr. Mid-Nite, with the wood owl now named Hooty by his side.

In addition to his role as Elliott in Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Henry Thomas most recently appeared in Netflix’s acclaimed horror drama The Haunting of Hill House.

High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitemore and Joel McHale as Starman with Anjelika Washington, Yvette Monreal, and Christopher James in undisclosed roles. Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl. Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

Stargirl is scheduled to debut on DC Universe in August 2019.
