New ‘Stargirl’ Teaser Shows Brec Bassinger Take On Sportsmaster

The latest teaser for the Stargirl series shows off Brec Bassinger’s hero taking on Sportsmaster.

With Brec Bassinger’s Stargirl finally arriving in May, new footage reveals one of the villains she’ll go up against: Sportsmaster. The new teaser shows off the hero’s skills as she dodges projectiles being thrown by a mystery opponent – although stills from the scene were recently released online. We see the robotic S.T.R.I.P.E. power suit in the background after seemingly taking damage from whoever the pair are fighting.

But in the second part of the teaser we get a clear look at one of the villains Brec Bassinger’s Courtney Whitmore has to contend with as she duels with Sportsmaster. The footage of the fight shows fans how Stargirl fights with her staff and how it looks in battle. It also offers a full look at Sportsmaster’s costume, including his iconic mask. High school sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019, produced by Warner Bros. Television, Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitemore, Joel McHale as Starman, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, and Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman. The series also stars Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker, and Hunter Sansone. Geoff Johns will write and executive produce the 13-episode first season of Stargirl while Sarah Schechter and Arrowverse boss Greg Berlanti will also serve as executive producers on the series.

Stargirl is scheduled to debut on DC Universe and The CW in 2020.
