Stephen Lang’s Quaritch Return In ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ Explained

Quaritch's revenge.

Stephen Lang James Cameron Avatar

Stephen Lang talked about his return as Quaritch in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.

Unlike Sigourney Weaver, who’s playing a new role in Avatar: The Way of Water, Stephen Lang is returning as Quaritch despite dying in the first film. According to Empire, Quaritch’s character will return thanks to his consciousness being uploaded to a new Na’vi avatar body. Lang teased what we can expect to see from Quaritch in the sequel:

“He’s bigger, he’s bluer, he’s pissed off. But there may possibly be an aspect of humility. When you take two Na’vi arrows in the chest, that’s gonna have some kind of effect on you. [He] was always a character who moved in straight lines and at right angles. But now he is as lithe as they come. He can move with the same kind of cunning and feral quality that any of the Na’vi can.”

The RDA Strikes Back

With Stephen Lang’s return as Quaritch, RDA will also be back with a vengeance in the Avatar sequel. RDA is said to have a new city called Bridgehead, are creating lots of weapons with a 3D printing facility, and negatively impacting the oceans of Pandora. Avatar producer Jon Landau said the following about RDA’s comeback:

“They are combing back with an armada to take back the prized possession that they lost. This is RDA scale. The war for Pandora is only just beginning.”
