Steve Agee Reveals Disappointing Update On ‘Waller’ Series: ‘Hopefully It Still Happens’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Is Waller cooked?

Is Waller officially dead in the water? Economos Steve Agee gives fans an update that absolutely nobody wanted to hear.

Waller is one of the oddest series currently sitting on the DC Universe’s slate. The project was originally set to come out before Peacemaker season 2. However, due to regime changes at Warner Bros. Discovery and shifting timelines, the show has been left in limbo with almost no official updates from James Gunn and the head writers.

One of the few things fans know for certain about the series is that Steve Agee is set to reprise his role as John Economos. So when speaking exclusively to our team at Heroic Hollywood, we asked him how well Waller was developing behind the scenes. Sadly, it seems as though this update won’t be providing any good news for fans.

“I think it’s still…they don’t have scripts. Or at least last I checked. I haven’t talked to James [Gunn] in a while. So I don’t know where they are with Waller.”

“I know that was a plan, I think, before he even started as co-chair of DC. So now that he’s got this new job, I don’t know timeline-wise where it will fit. Hopefully it still happens, because I would love to see more of Viola [Davis], especially in this universe.”

Is The Waller Series Cancelled?

Luckily, this update isn’t all doom and gloom. When continuing to talk about the Waller series, Steve Agee did provide fans with a small bit of light at the end of the tunnel. While he admits that James Gunn is very busy with other projects in the DC Universe, the show isn’t dead so much as it is indefinitely delayed.

“But he’s now writing or finishing up the script for the next Superman. So that guy is so busy. I think it’s something he would definitely have to give to somebody else to write at the very least. So I think we’re looking at a while before we see that happen, but it hasn’t been counted out yet for sure.”

It’s important to note that, contrary to Steve Agee’s comments, James Gunn is not currently poised to write the Waller series. The show is set to be penned by Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol). So while it may still be a while until the head of ARGUS returns to streaming, it may not be as long a wait as this update may suggest.
