‘Stranger Things’ Creator Teases Unexpected Direction For Spin-Off Series

Here comes the Stranger Things cinematic universe!

Stranger Things Netflix

The Duffer Brothers recently opened up about their planned Stranger Things spin-off series.

Given Stranger Things‘ massive success, it’s no surprise Netflix is looking to capitalize on the series by expanding the franchise in the age of spin-offs and steaming. The original Stranger Things series will conclude with season five, but the Duffer Brothers are already plotting what’s next.

Beyond the Upside Down?

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos teased that a spin-off could focus on Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven. When discussing the series with Variety, Ross Duffer revealed Finn Wolfhard had already figured out what the series would be about and that they would develop it while making season five. Matt Duffer went on to share his excitement for the spin-off and that it won’t be what audiences are expecting:

“Even if we took the Stranger Things title off, I’m so excited about it. It’s going to be different than what anyone is expecting, including Netflix.”

Here is the synopsis for the fourth season of Netflix’s hit series:

“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

Created by the Duffer Brothers, the Netflix series stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, and Joseph Quinn.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 will drop on July 1st. Stay tuned for the latest news on the franchise’s future, and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
