With the premiere of the first trailer for F9: The Fast Saga, the stunning first look at the ninth chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise brings back a fan favorite: Sung Kang as Han Lue!
Towards the very end of the new trailer, Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty Ortiz surprises the crew with the unlikely return of their old friend, Han, in Sung Kang’s triumphant return to the beloved franchise. When we last saw Sung Kang’s Han Lue, he was presumed dead at the hands of Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw at the end of Fast & Furious 6.
But given the franchise’s history in bringing back characters that were believed to be gone for good such as Letty Ortiz, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Sung Kang would be reuniting with the family in F9: The Fast Saga. Also, given the desire from the fanbase for there to be #JusticeForHan after it appeared that Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw would be in good graces with the crew, it appears that director Justin Lin and writer Daniel Casey have found a way to bring justice for Han in this upcoming film.
Sung Kang made his debut in the franchise as Han in Justin Lin’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, where he instantly became a fan favorite. The character is the same character portrayed in Justin Lin’s crime drama film, Better Luck Tomorrow. Sung Kang would play Han in Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6.
