David Corenswet is back as Superman! A preview for the Supergirl trailer shows off the Man of Steel’s cameo in the upcoming project for the DC Universe.
It’s a bit of an open secret that David Corenswet’s Superman is going to cameo in Supergirl. Not only does it make sense that the actor would be used to connect the first two projects in the DC Universe, but the first trailer focused quite a bit on the story of Krypton – something that is integral to the stories of both Kal-El and Kara.
However, nobody could have guessed that the cameo would have been revealed before the second trailer. A new preview for tomorrow’s Supergirl trailer released by James Gunn shows off David Corenswet’s Superman. Specifically, the Man of Steel is calling his cousin to make sure she’s okay, teasing that she’ll truly be going off reservation in the DC Universe’s sophomore outing.
David Corenswet’s Role In Supergirl
For those worried that James Gunn ruined the biggest surprise in Supergirl – don’t worry. It’s almost certain that this small cameo won’t be all fans see of David Corenswet in the DC Universe’s upcoming film. In fact, the context of Supergirl ignoring Superman’s outstretched hand for comfort suggests that he’ll come back later in the story, leading to her accepting his familial love.
That being said, it’s abundantly clear that this cameo was filmed by David Corenswet AFTER principal photography for Supergirl, likely being used to give Superman a more overarching presence through the project instead of simply having him pop in at the eleventh hour to give some sage advice. But even then, there’s no denying that the scene is incredibly fun.
