Will Superman and Lois be separated for good? The synopsis for season 4 of the CW series teases a dark path spearheaded by Lex Luthor.
The CW is finally bringing Superman and Lois to an end with season 4. Despite this, the channel has kept details about the final season rather close to their chest. While Michael Cudlitz was elevated to a series regular Lex Luthor, it wasn’t exactly clear what has plan was for Smallville. However, a synopsis for the upcoming season suggests that he’s ready to burn the entire town down to get revenge on Lois Lane and her family.
“Season four of SUPERMAN & LOIS picks up right where last season left off: with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Luthor’s monster locked in a ferocious, moon-wrecking battle, as Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) fights for his life against the seemingly unstoppable creature.”
“Back on the ground, General Lane (guest star Dylan Walsh) struggles to stay alive after being kidnapped by Luthor’s henchmen, while Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), Jordan (Alex Garfin), and Jonathan (Michael Bishop) race against time to rescue him.”
“But standing in their way is Lex Luthor (Michael Cudlitz) himself, who has permanently moved to Smallville as the next step in his malicious plan to destroy Lois Lane. Meanwhile, Lana Lang (guest star Emanuelle Chriqui) uses her position as Mayor to fight back against Luthor’s schemes, a move which puts her in the sights of the most dangerous man in the world and threatens everything she holds dear. This includes her relationship with John Henry Irons (guest star Wolé Parks), who must put his Ironworks plans on hold and rejoin the DOD, now that General Lane is missing.”
“But they aren’t the only duo in trouble, as Chrissy Beppo (guest star Sofia Hasmik) and Kyle Cushing (guest star Eric Valdez) face an uphill battle of their own, with countless roadblocks that threaten to ruin their future together.”
“Amid all the chaos, Sarah Cortez (guest star Inde Navarette) and Natalie Irons (guest star Tayler Buck) also join the fight against Luthor, while both facing impossible decisions about their paths in life.”
This synopsis reveals that Lex Luthor isn’t just a threat to Superman and Lois. Rather, he’ll be putting a target on almost every member of the cast. This certainly promises a much different version of Lex Luthor by Michael Cudlitz in season 4, as most incarnations of the character on the CW have been schemers rather than the straightforward villain that Superman and Lois seems to be setting up.
Will Clark Die In Superman And Lois Season 4?
Yet Lex Luthor isn’t the only villain this synopsis teases. The description also suggests that the battle between Superman and Doomsday will continue into the premiere of season 4. However, given the vague wording of the final lines, it’s possible that Superman and Lois may actually kill off Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel before Michael Kudlitz can even get to him!
“And as Clark’s battle with the terrifying monster continues, Lois, her boys, and the world must face an unthinkable possibility: what if Superman never returns?”
It would certainly be ambitious for Superman and Lois to try to adapt the Death of Superman in their final season, especially given they were given an abridged order for season 4. However, given Tyler Hoechlin’s absence from the synopsis for the entire season, it’s more likely than not that his character is put onto the backfoot for most, if not all, of the show’s remaining runtime.
