RUMOR: Superman Getting Another Faceless Cameo In ‘Black Adam’

Superman's last two DCEU appearances haven't involved Henry Cavill.

A new rumor suggests Superman will appear in Black Adam in the vein of his recent Shazam! and Peacemaker cameos.

Dwayne Johnson has been teasing for some time that his Black Adam will face Superman at some point. The Black Adam star most recently shared that he hears fans who want a Man of Steel appearance in the upcoming DC film.

The problem is that the role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe is incredibly unclear at the moment. Superman’s last two appearances were in Shazam! and Peacemaker, both played by a body double instead of Henry Cavill. According to a new rumor from MyTimeToShineHello, Black Adam will be the latest DC project to feature a faceless Superman cameo.

What Are WB’s Plans for Superman?

Warner Bros. is developing two separate Superman projects at the moment. A film reboot is currently being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, while Michael B. Jordan is working on an HBO Max series following Val Zod. No recent updates on the projects have been revealed, and the direction Warner Bros. takes Superman could also change since the studio is now under new leadership.

There are also rumors Ezra Miller’s The Flash movie will erase Henry Cavill’s Kal-El from the DCEU’s continuity and be replaced by Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. Meanwhile, The CW has renewed Superman & Lois for a third season.

Here is the synopsis for Black Adam:

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani, the DCEU film stars Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell, Bodhi Sabongui, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam opens in theaters on October 21, 2022. Be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Superman film franchise, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content.
