The Engineer is looking slick! New concept art from Superman shows fans the intricate design of María Gabriela De Faría’s iconic DC anti-hero.
With Superman continuing to fly high at the box office, more behind-the-scenes information about the film has been hitting the net to try to keep the film in the public consciousness. This includes concept art, the first piece of which was unveiled the other day featuring David Corenswet’s Superman suit. This left many to wonder what character fans will be seeing next.
The answer, shockingly, seemed to be the Engineer. While a relatively minor character in the grand scheme of Superman, her powers were one of the most interesting and dynamic ever seen on the silver screen. Concept art posted by Constantine Sekeris gives fans a more in-depth look at the design, as well as how María Gabriela De Faría’s character devolves throughout the film.
The Engineer’s Future After Superman
Unlike most characters, the Engineer didn’t have a definitive ending in Superman. The character was defeated, but nothing set her up for a return or redemption later down the line. This left many to speculate where María Gabriela De Faría’s future may lie in the franchise, especially as The Authority is seeming to take a backseat at DC Studios.
It’s possible- if not likely- that Superman may be the last fans see of María Gabriela De Faría’s anti-hero for quite some time. The Engineer doesn’t have strong ties to any confirmed projects currently on DC’s slate. And, unless the character makes an appearance in the currently unannounced project that James Gunn is writing, it’s not likely that they’ll make a cameo in any of those aforementioned films or tv shows.
