Superman is bringing some destruction to Metropolis! A new image from the DC Universe film unites David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in their iconic outfits.

The heads of the DC Universe have been keeping a tight leash on the promotion of Superman. For all that fans have seen in trailers and promotional images, there has been one area of the film that has been seemingly purposefully held back: Metropolis. Aside from a few shots of David Corenswet running down the street or looking down at it from above with Rachel Brosnahan, the currently available footage of the film has kept things less than grounded (literally and metamorphically).

And it seems that there was a very good reason as to why Metropolis has remained hidden. A new image from Superman was released by USA Today, which shows the titular Man of Steel (played by David Corenswet) standing in a destroyed Metropolis with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). Fans know this is Metropolis and not another city due to the “Meteors” sign in the background, which has been confirmed to be the city’s baseball team in the DC Universe.

Why Is Metropolis Destroyed In Superman?

Fans who followed the production of Superman should recognize this image. It was one of the first very viral scenes filmed in Philadelphia for the film, with set photos revealing that a number of Daily Planet mainstays will be joining Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane alongside David Corenswet. Most likely, this image comes from some of the final moments of the DC Universe film.

It’s also fitting, given David Corenswet is wearing his iconic Superman suit and Rachel Brosnahan is wearing one of the most iconic outfits associated with Lois Lane. While it’s not clear how much the Daily Planet will play into the climax of the DC Universe, they’ll at the very least serve as a debrief grounding the character in Metropolis after the (likely) world ending stakes.

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
