Superman is flying fast to IMAX screens! The latest featurette from the film gives fans their best look yet at the debut of James Gunn’s DC Universe.
To say that people are excited to see James Gunn’s vision for Superman to come to life is an understatement. The film is tracking incredibly well, with premium formats like IMAX and 4DX sold out all across the country. It’s truly a new dawn for the DC Universe, and it’s probably impossible for the franchise to be starting off on a better foot.
Yet with just a few days until release, James Gunn isn’t slowing down the hype train. In fact, he’s only speeding it up as the debut of the new DC Universe inches closer and closer. The director recently released a new featurette from the film, highlighting the benefits of seeing it in IMAX. In it, fans get a new behind-the-scenes breakdown of the production of Superman, highlighting the “banging” action that gets amplified in premium formats.

Superman Reaches New Heights For The DC Universe
IMAX has been getting a bit of a resurgence in recent years. While the format never truly went away, it seemed to seep away in the public consciousness for a bit as interest in movie theaters themselves waned. Now, premium formats like IMAX are seen as the bastion of theaters, with promotion for projects like Superman and other DC Universe blockbusters focusing on the experience of watching the film in theaters versus at home.
Superman has had to fight for its spot on IMAX screens, sandwiched between Jurassic World: Rebirth and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It’s possible that, if James Gunn’s DC Universe reboot is an even bigger hit than projected, the film might even bump The Fantastic Four off some IMAX theaters in the later half of its run. Though that likely entirely depends on how the project’s opening weekend goes.
