The DC Universe is starting off with one big bang! The latest international poster for Superman shows fans just how big the film’s scope will be.
There’s been a lot of talk about how big the cast of Superman is. Between the heroes, villains, and even the Daily Planet, the main cast has certainly hit the double digits. However, it’s important to note that James Gunn is establishing a DC Universe that’s lived in, and is likely introducing a number of key characters that will be important in their own projects heading into the future. As a rule of thumb, the important characters are the ones on the poster.
Yet even then, the poster is more stacked than people thought! The latest international poster for China is the classic “floating heads” style showing the key characters of a film. Not only does it feature Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor, but also the entire Justice Gang, Krypto, Jimmy Olsen, and The Engineer. This isn’t even to mention Ultraman and Eve Tessmacher, who are important to the plot but missing from this poster!

Is Superman’s Cast Too Big?
Of course, the film having a big main cast isn’t cause for concern on its own. James Gunn has a history of massive casts with projects like Guardians of the Galaxy, so his films in the DC Universe aren’t going to be any different. And given how all these characters have had a decent amount of screentime in the footage seen thus far of Superman, it seems he did a good job juggling them.
It’s likely that this poster will be the main one adorning English-speaking theaters as well as the weeks leading up to the release of Superman dwindle down. It’s the best banner to showcase how expansive the DC Universe plans to be in just its opening swing. Though with reviews coming out sooner than later, the truth about the potential success of this strategy will be revealed!
