David Corenswet has officially been cast as the Man of Steel in the upcoming DC Universe film Superman: Legacy. The actor broke his silence on the announcement by saluting The Boys breakout Jack Quaid, who will voice Clark Kent in the upcoming animated series My Adventures With Superman.
Despite having made international headlines by being cast as the Big Blue Boy Scout in Superman: Legacy, David Corenswet has been mostly silent on the news, especially since he hasn’t even tweeted in over three years. This silence was broken last week, following a tweet by The Boys and My Adventures With Superman actor Jack Quaid congratulating him on landing the role, leading to Corenswet saluting his fellow Clark Kent actor:
The pilot referred to by Jack Quaid was a period drama on the USA Network called The Tap, which would have followed David Corenswet and Quaid as Yale University students at the height of the counterculture revolution in 1969. While the pilot was never picked up, it almost seems like fate that the actors for Clark Kent in Superman: Legacy and My Adventures With Superman would have shared the screen together.
Superman’s DC Universe Future
Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark Kent and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world.
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room and a unified storyline across film, television, animation and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
