A new set of leaks tease the appearance of Jor-El and Brainiac in the upcoming DC Universe movie Superman: Legacy. According to a report, James Gunn could be eyeing a certain Marvel star to play Superman’s dad.
This newest round of leaks comes from a verified user of the r/DCEULeaks page on Reddit. This user, who has seemingly been verified by moderators, claims to have seen Superman: Legacy concept art depicting “a generic gray robot with green highlights” that features Brainiac’s “signature headpiece”, along with Jor-El, played by Guardians of the Galaxy star Kurt Russell.
“He’s drawn as being tall, and I mean REALLY tall. Like, above 7 feet at least. His costume is sort of a mix between armor and fabric, with the armor bits being like a baby blue and the fabric being a crystal-y white. He has a blue House of El crest on his chest which glows, kind of like an LED.”
“And here’s the fun part. Take this with a grain of salt, as a ton of concept art uses random actors’ faces on characters, but the specific art I’ve seen features Kurt Russell’s face on Jor-El.”
Given James Gunn has hinted at Guardians of the Galaxy cast members appearing in the DCU and is usually fairly deliberate with his concept art, it’s possible Kurt Russell will appear as Jor-El alongside a form of Brainiac. Though with the SAG-AFTRA strike still ongoing, Superman fans likely won’t know for a while.

Superman: Legacy is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark Kent and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world.
James Gunn and Peter Safran told journalists that their vision for the DC Universe includes locked scripts, wiggle room, and a unified storyline across film, television, animation, and video game projects. The two explained that the DC Universe could bring back elements from previous DC regimes, meaning that their eight-to-year plan is not a full reboot.
