The DC Universe just keeps getting bigger! New promo art for Superman brings a brand new team to Metropolis, even if it may not be exactly the team fans were hoping for.
The DC Universe has absolutely been pumping out merch the last few days. One would struggle to shake a stick without bumping into something related to Superman. But with merch comes promo art. For the most part, this has meant new looks at places and characters fans already knew would be in the film. But occasionally, it actually reveals something new.
That very occasion came to pass with the release of new promo art for the film. This batch shows off logos from across the DC Universe, including ones for the titular Superman and the Daily Planet. However, perhaps most surprising to be featured is one for the Metropolis Meteors, a baseball team that has only appeared in a whopping seven comics!

Who Are The Metropolis Meteors?
Most would say that this promo art is basically useless, boiling down to a fun Easter egg in a film bursting to the brim with Easter eggs. However, this logo may reveal more about Superman than many realize. Set photos and trailers have confirmed that the film’s climax will be taking place in a stadium of some sort, and this promo art all but confirms that the stadium will belong to the DC Universe’s preeminent baseball team.
That, too, could mean nothing. However, given how heavily baseball is associated with traditional Americana, it wouldn’t be shocking if Superman had some key memories revolving around baseball and the Metropolis Meteors. Ending up in that stadium could be the very thing that gives him the will to push his limits and take down the threat, meaning this baseball team could save the entire DC Universe without even knowing it.
