Is Superman the true villain of the DC Universe? A new rumor seems to reveal Lex Luthor’s role in the upcoming film.
For as much as fans know about the DC Universe heading into Superman, details have been surprisingly sparse when it comes to the supposed villain of the film: Lex Luthor. Despite Nicolas Hoult being cast quite a while ago, it’s still unclear what role he’ll be playing in the film’s story.
A new rumor seeks to answer that very question. According to a Hollywood insider who goes by “ThwipT” on Twitter, the film will see Lex Luthor using Ultraman to frame Superman as a threat, turning him into a pariah in the DC Universe. This is corroborated, not just by prior rumors from the film, but by a recent set video to come out of the project’s production.
Superman Gets Shunned In New Set Video
Almost every set video to come out of Superman has been triumphant or action-packed in some way. However, this newest one seems to take a dour tone. Going along with the rumor that Lex Luthor will be framing the Man of Steel as a villain, this newest piece of footage shows David Corenswet shunned by a crowd as he makes his leave.
It’s currently unclear what Lex Luthor could make Ultraman do that would make those people so fearful of Superman. However, it’s clear that the villain will be just as cunning in this new DC Universe as he is in the pages of DC Comics. With just under a year until the project hits theaters, it’s likely fans will be getting their first taste of it sooner rather than later!
