Superman is an All-Star! A new set photo from the upcoming DC Universe film reveals an easter Egg from one of the most beloved incarnations of the Man of Seel.
It’s no secret that All-Star Superman is a large influence on James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film. However, aside from a few minor details, fans haven’t found many concrete references around the DC Universe. That all changed recently with the newest set photo revealing an easter egg to one of the most touching moments from the comics.
The Superman set photo reveals a newspaper reading “Superman Fulfills A Dream: Flies Cancer Patients To The Egyptian Pyramids.” The image alongside the headline is ripped straight from All-Star Superman in one of the most touching moments from the Last Son of Krypton. If this is the care James Gunn is putting into just an Easter egg, the DC Universe truly is in good hands!
The Many Inspirations Behind Superman
All-Star Superman isn’t the only comic James Gunn pulled from when crafting his own Superman film. The Max Fleischer cartoon and Silver Age runs on the character also had a large influence on the new DC Universe film. If fans couldn’t tell by the suit’s logo, so did the Kingdom Come comic.
Superman: The Animated Series was also stated as an influence on James Gunn’s take on Superman. This is seen through the large, lived-in DC Universe seen throughout the film. From the tiny easter eggs to the blockbuster casting, it’s clear the world Superman inhabits is alive and well outside of himself. Unlike prior films, he’s no longer the only hero in town.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
